Akureyri Health Clinic

The Akureyri Health Clinic ( Heilbrigðisstofnun Norðurlands - HSN ) provides the general public with services in the fields of general medicine, nursing and healthcare, infant and maternity service and provides advice and guidance.
*It is recommended that you register yourself and your family at the Akureyri Health Clinic and apply for a GP.

Visiting Fees

• For a member of the Icelandic Health Insurance - IHI ( Sjúkratryggingar Íslands ) regardless of nationality, the fee for a visit to the Akureyri Health Clinic during normal working hours is ISK 500.
• A person from EEA who does not have an Icelandic ID number (kennitala), should use their European Health Insurance Card when visiting the clinic.  Comprehensive information regarding EHIC can be found on the website https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/.
• A person who does not have an Icelandic ID number, pays a visiting fee of ISK 10.250 (in Icelandic) during normal working hours.

Heilsuvera.is

Heilsuvera.is (in Icelandic) is a Healthcare website which provides safe communication with health care professionals.
Through it a person may register for COVID-19 symptom sampling.

Ambulance transport

Ambulance transport in Iceland is owned and equipped by the Icelandic Red Cross - IRC ( Rauði krossinn á Íslandi ).
If you were transported by an ambulance in Iceland and have received an invoice from IRC you can pay it here.

Prenatal care

Prenatal care (Meðgönguvernd, site in Icelandic) supports the health of pregnant people and fetuses.
They offer guidance and address any high-risk factors.
