Board games

The Municipal Library of Akureyri has a selection of about 200 board games that are located on the ground floor of the library. A wide selection is offered for all age groups, with an emphasis on family and children's games. With this the library aims to increase the availability of free entertainment for families.

Here is an overview of the games available at the library. All board games are loaned for 30 days.

During the winter, there is a games club for children between the ages of nine to 13 every other Monday 17:00-18:00. There is an information page for parents and legal guardians is on Facebook.

Board game events for adults take place twice a month on Wednesdays at the library’s café. Any game on the library’s shelf is available, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own games and teach one another. The precise dates of the events can be found in the library's event calendar.

Different game-related events such as swap markets, Nordic Games Week and Murder Mystery Night take place at the library.
